Property

Our facilities sit on 80 acres of forestland on Cobb Mountain in Lake County, CA. To date we have built a custom log home for our founder’s family, a 3000 square foot livable studio space with a 2000 square foot kiln shed, and an 1800 square foot barn to house wood for the kilns. In addition we purchased and renovated a 3 bedroom home for long-term resident housing, which is less than half a mile from the studio. There are two private cabins located near the studio each is 144 square feet and has its own kitchen with a separate shared bathhouse/laundry.

Garden

We have several plots of land dedicated to organic food growing, which helps to feed and educate all the people living on site.

There is a small greenhouse for seed starts that also houses several tanks for tilapia farming which helps to provide nutrient-dense water to our gardens and orchards.

Botanical Gardens

Regenerative land management is key to a healthy and biodiverse ecology. Through selective controlled burning, Cobb Mountain Art and Ecology Project revitalizes the 80-acre forest surrounding the houses and studio. With regenerative land management, the property has blossomed into a botanical garden with 90% of California native conifers on site. There are also countless native wildlife present throughout the year.

We seek to share what we have learned with the local community, leading to involvement with the natural environment and art informed and inspired by this stewardship. The wood harvested from selective clearing is used to heat the homes and studios and to fuel the wood kilns.
