Sydney Ruckdeschel
Sydney Ruckdeschel was born and raised in Silver Spring, MD and was first introduced to ceramics during her freshman year of high school. Sydney received her BA from Juniata College, where she majored in ceramics and psychology. While in school, she developed an interest in wood and soda firing and is drawn to the variations created by the kiln atmosphere. Before her residency at Cobb, she primarily wood fired in Juniata’s two-chamber anagama-inspired kiln, as well as a small train kiln she and a classmate built. Sydney is excited to continue firing Cobb's kilns during her second year of residency.
