Jill Campbell

Jill was first introduced to ceramics in high school via hand building, and was instantly drawn to the meditative qualities of coil building and creating repetitive surface textures and patterns.  She graduated with a BA in Visual Arts Studies from the University of Florida, but then took a hard left and moved to Breckenridge, CO for a “season”.  Always an admirer of the natural beauty of the world that surrounded her, she was in awe of the majestic landscape of the Rockies, and fell in love with the area, the people, and the lifestyle.  She ended up in the service industry and abandoned her pursuit of the arts.  In 2017, after 2 decades of alcohol abuse, she ultimately chose to get sober, and with that came an intense urge to rediscover herself.  In the Fall of 2021she enrolled in a wheel throwing class at the Art Students League of Denver, and immediately felt reconnected with an old friend when her hands touched clay for the first time in 20 years.  She decided to go all in.  She was awarded, alongside the studio’s manager, a grant for a year long apprenticeship through Studio Potter, which served as a “boot camp” to get her back on track to pursue a path in the arts.  As the apprenticeship ended, she was chosen as the AIR at Mighty Mud Studio in Knoxville, TN, so she packed up her life of 22 years in CO, and headed east.  Now back in the West, Jill is excited to reconnect with the earth, be inspired by her surroundings and her fellow residents, embrace solitude and stillness, and see how her work continues to progress and evolve through this transformative experience.
