Crescent Guardian — Threshold Watcher 9
Crescent Guardian Series This sculpture is part of the artist’s ongoing Crescent Guardian series. The series functions as an act of spiritual guardianship — a reverential invocation through which unseen yet felt protective forces are given form in clay, their presence called upon for stability and fortitude.
The work draws upon an archetypal human impulse, found across cultures and spiritual traditions, to seek guardianship in moments of vulnerability and transition. The forms are not referential to specific deities or religious figures, but emerge from this broader symbolic language of vigilance and safeguarding.
The finished sculptures remain as material traces of this act of invocation.
Threshold Watchers
The Threshold Watchers draw on the archetypal concept and practice of placing boundary stones and sentry figures at entrances—to villages, temples, or sacred spaces—marking and protecting thresholds. Within the Crescent Guardian series, they stand sentinel at points of passage, embodying watchfulness and resoluteness.
